International students intending to study in the United States must obtain an F-1 Student Visa. This visa is issued to students enrolled in full-time academic programs at SEVP-approved colleges, universities, or institutions.

Before you apply, you should:

  • Receive admission from an SEVP-approved U.S. institution.
  • Obtain your Form I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility) from your university.
  • Pay the $350 SEVIS I-901 Fee.
  • Complete the DS-160 Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application.
  • Schedule and attend your visa interview at the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
